To further enhance grant proposal writing skills and support faculty in project applications, the School of Materials and Chemistry at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology invited Professor Li Geyang from Shanghai Jiao Tong University to deliver a special lecture on March 4, 2025. The event, chaired by Vice Dean Li Wei, focused on improving faculty preparedness for National Natural Science Foundation of China  proposals.Under the theme “Understanding and Writing National Natural Science Foundation of China Proposals,” Professor Li Geyang systematically dissected the key components of grant applications, covering critical aspects such as defining scientific problems, constructing research rationales, designing methodologies, and analyzing common pitfalls through real-world examples. He emphasized, “A grant proposal is not just a research plan but also a demonstration of scientific value, requiring a balance between innovation and feasibility.”Following the lecture, three young faculty members actively engaged Professor Li with questions on proposal drafting, all of which he patiently addressed, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas.
