The National University Students' Chemical Engineering Experiment Competition is sponsored by the China Chemical Industry Education Association. It has been included in the competition catalog of the *2024 National Analysis Report on College Students' Competitions*, ranking 61st out of 84. As of the end of August 2025, it has been successfully held for eight sessions. With the purpose of implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference, the competition is committed to promoting the construction of "Emerging Engineering Education" for chemical engineering-related majors in colleges and universities, improving the teaching quality of core courses for undergraduate chemical engineering majors, and enhancing the ability of higher education to serve the development of the national economy. The student team "Huaqi Xinghe, Gongyun Liufang", composed of Li Xucong, Long Jinsong and Ma Zhuo (undergraduates of the Applied Chemistry major, Class of 2022 from the School of Materials and Chemistry), won the first prize in the Shanghai Regional Competition under the guidance of teachers including Zhang Xingguang from our school. Later, the team represented our university in the East China Regional Competition held at Nanchang University. This marks the first time that undergraduate students from our university have participated in this competition and won a Shanghai municipal-level award. It fully demonstrates the solid theoretical foundation and operational skills of the undergraduate students majoring in Applied Chemistry at our university, the achievements made in the construction of the Applied Chemistry major, as well as the talent cultivation concept of "student-oriented". This achievement has greatly stimulated the students' interest and enthusiasm in learning.
