On the morning of June 16th, the graduation ceremony and degree conferral for the Class of 2025 of the School of Materials and Chemistry, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, was held in the Lecture Hall on the first floor of the School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering. Party Secretary Cao Ying, Deputy Party Secretary Dong Xiaoliang, faculty representatives, Class of 2025 counselors, and the graduating students themselves attended the ceremony. Deputy Party Secretary Dong Xiaoliang presided over the event.
The ceremony began with the warm-up video, "Song of Shangli: Graduation Keepsake for the Class of 2025 of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology." The succession of photos, unforgettable scenes, and moving melodies instantly evoked the students' fond memories of their university life. The atmosphere quickly warmed, filling the attendees with emotion and immersing them in the warmth and nostalgia of the past years.
Amidst the solemn strains of the national anthem, the graduation ceremony officially commenced. Via live broadcast from the main venue, university leader Zhang Hua read out the decision on recognizing municipal and university-level outstanding graduates. He extended the sincerest congratulations to every graduate, fully affirming their outstanding performance and excellent achievements during their time at the university. He encouraged them to continue striving for excellence and writing new chapters of brilliance in their future endeavors.
Party Secretary Cao Ying announced the list of alumni liaison officers for the graduating class and personally presented them with their letters of appointment. This weighty certificate signifies not only the honor of their new role but also symbolizes the enduring bond of alumni fellowship and the vital link connecting them to the future of their alma mater.

Via live broadcast from the main venue, attendees also viewed inspiring speeches from graduate student representatives, undergraduate student representatives, faculty representatives, alumni representatives, and the university president. Their heartfelt and sincere remarks offered genuine blessings and valuable advice to the graduates, encouraging them to boldly pursue their dreams and strive for excellence on their future journeys.
The school meticulously organized a graduation chorus. As the familiar melody of "Qifengle" (Wind Rises) began to play, the atmosphere in the venue was instantly ignited. This was not merely the movement of musical notes but a profound resonance of shared emotion. Following the song, graduating student representatives, holding bouquets with deep reverence, presented flowers to their mentors as a tribute, expressing their heartfelt gratitude for the mentors' dedicated guidance and tireless efforts.

The ceremony then reached its most anticipated moment: the conferral of degrees and the tassel-turning ceremony. Professors adorned in academic regalia turned the tassels and adjusted the caps for each graduate in turn. This moment served not only as a solemn affirmation of the graduates' academic achievements but also carried the profound expectations and earnest advice of their mentors. The turning of the tassel symbolizes the ripening of the "ear of knowledge", marking the students' official transition from their youthful student days. Now brimming with knowledge and dreams, they stand ready to embark on new chapters of their lives, prepared to shoulder the responsibilities and missions entrusted by the times.
This grand ceremony fully demonstrated the high value and deep care the university and school place on talent cultivation, while also conveying fervent hopes and best wishes for the graduates. May all graduates of the School of Materials and Chemistry carry with them the blessings of their alma mater and the spirit of USST – "Integrity, Fraternity, Diligence, Devotion; Learning, Aspiration" – as they brave the waves and scale new heights on their future paths. May they become pillars of the nation, allowing the glory of USST to shine with even greater brilliance in the new era!
