On February 18, 2025, the college convened a pre-democratic life meeting forum to solicit opinions from faculty members, attended by the entire leadership team, faculty representatives, and staff from the Party and Administration Office and Experimental Center. The meeting was presided over by Cao Ying, Secretary of the Party Committee.

Faculty representatives raised opinions and suggestions regarding educational instruction, scientific research, professional title promotions, evaluation mechanisms, and institutional development. Members of the leadership team listened attentively to these recommendations and provided responses. Dean Wan Ying delivered concluding remarks, emphasizing that 2025 marks a critical inaugural year for implementing the spirit of the university’s Ninth Party Congress. Against the backdrop of Shanghai’s "4+5" new industrial system development, the college faces unprecedented opportunities. She urged all departments to align closely with Shanghai’s emerging industrial demands, leverage the university’s strengths in engineering disciplines, clarify development goals, strengthen the integration of chemistry and materials science, actively advance interdisciplinary innovation in "Materials+" engineering fields, enhance scientific and technological innovation capabilities, build a high-caliber faculty, and cultivate high-quality talents to meet future societal needs.
