Recently, Akira Fujishima, foreign academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, academician of European Academy of Sciences, and his research team visited School of Materials and Chemistry (SMC), USST, accompanied by Li Guisheng, vice dean (presiding over the work) of SMC, USST. Academician Fujishima has long been committed to the research of semiconductor electrochemistry and is the ancestor of international photocatalysis. From 2006 to 2008, he served as the president of Japanese Chemical Society and was elected as a foreign academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2003.

Li Guisheng expressed heartfelt thanks to academician Fujishima and his team for their visit and guidance on behalf of SMC, USST, and introduced the development and construction of disciplines and laboratories of SMC, USST. During the investigation, academician Fujishima focused on understanding the development status of various disciplines of SMC, USST, and visited the public laboratory and some team laboratories of SMC, USST. Academician Akira Fujishima has a strong interest in the construction and layout of SMC, USST in the field of photocatalysis. He stressed the importance of strengthening the construction of young talents in photocatalysis, and gave guiding opinions on how to promote the output of high-level and landmark academic achievements. Besides that，the full-time joining of academician Fujishima's team in USST will certainly play a great role in radiating and promoting the comprehensive scientific research strength of SMC, USST, and promote the rapid development of materials and chemistry related majors in SMC, USST.
