On September 24-25, the 2021 China bismuth science and industry seminar co-sponsored by the bismuth science research center of SMC, USST and the indium, bismuth and germanium branch of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association was successfully held in Guixi, Jiangxi Province. Leaders of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and other relevant departments, bismuth production enterprises, traders, users at home and abroad, scientific and technological personnel of universities and scientific research institutes, relevant personnel of asset management and investment institutions and representatives of industry organizations attended the meeting.

With the in-depth research and understanding of the magnetic, optical, electrical and other physicochemical properties of bismuth metal, the application of bismuth and its compounds not only in the field of medicine has been consolidated, but also in the fields of semiconductor and photocatalysis. This seminar is committed to carrying out information exchange in bismuth science, new materials and other related fields, promoting the integration of industry, University and research, and promoting the coordinated development of upstream and downstream.

Professor Miao Yuqing made a thematic report on the thinking of bismuth science and industrial development, and put forward that China has the world's first bismuth reserves, the world's first bismuth output and the world's first bismuth export, but the three firsts have not been transformed into economic advantages. He believes that China should strengthen the basic research of bismuth science, expand the research and development of bismuth products, cultivate the market through high value-added products, and enhance the economic and strategic advantages of the bismuth industry in the country. It is hoped that through the construction of joint research groups, we can realize cross professional, Cross College, Cross School and cross national joint research, and join hands with enterprises to build a new industry university research alliance.

Scholars from universities or research institutes such as Hong Kong University, Zhejiang University, Hunan University, Nanjing University of technology and Ningbo Institute of materials, Chinese Academy of sciences have made offline or online research on biomedicine of bismuth complexes, nano diagnosis and treatment of bismuth, bismuth based fluorescent materials, bismuth based two-dimensional electronic materials, bismuth based thermoelectric materials The research in hot fields such as bismuth based photocatalytic materials is reported in simple terms. Professor Li Guisheng of our college made an online sharing and introduction on the application of bismuth based materials in the field of photocatalysis and the research accumulation of the team for many years. At the seminar, scholars fully demonstrated the current frontier of bismuth scientific research, so that the industry can understand the research done by the academic community. Is there any market potential? Is there any possibility of cooperation? The industry puts forward the problems and expectations for the development of bismuth industry, so that the academic community can understand the needs of the industry and open up research fields for enterprise development and national needs.
