Shanghai-South Korea Academic Summit: USST and GNU Build a New Vision for Educational Partnership

On the morning of April 15, 2025, a delegation from Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea, visited the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). The delegation included Lee Byung-Hyun, Vice President of GNU; Chen Shengchen, Director of the International Office; Joo Soo-Jin, Dean of the Graduate School; and Min Eun-Joo, International Student Coordinator of the Graduate School. They were warmly received by Cai Yonglian, Vice President of USST, along with Chen Qi, Director of the Office of International Affairs; Li Shengjuan, Vice Dean of the School of Materials and Chemistry; and Chen Zezhong, Head of the Mechatronics and Forming Engineering Department.

At the opening of the meeting, Vice President Cai Yonglian delivered a heartfelt welcome speech. She extended sincere greetings to Vice President Lee Byung-Hyun and the visiting delegation, followed by a detailed introduction of USST’s development history, educational scale, and research achievements. Vice President Cai emphasized that the university places great importance on international education and research collaboration, having established strong partnerships with 226 universities and research institutions across 45 countries and regions. She expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation with Gyeongsang National University in multiple fields, aiming to elevate educational endeavors to new heights.

This visit marks a significant milestone in fostering communication between the two universities. Moving forward, both institutions will treat this exchange as a new starting point, continuously strengthening collaboration and leveraging their respective strengths. Key initiatives will include establishing joint laboratories, promoting talent co-cultivation, and facilitating faculty and student exchanges. These efforts will create broader development opportunities for students and faculty, inject new vitality into international education cooperation, and jointly contribute to the advancement of global education.
