In the afternoon of April 27, our school held an expanded meeting. Professor Zhu Shenmin, member of the National Education Steering Committee and vice president of the school of materials science and engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University, was invited to give a lecture on the theme of "integration of science and education, training practice of excellent and innovative talents in materials", which pointed out the direction and provided ideas for the construction of the first-class specialty of the school. All members of the central group of the school and more than 40 teachers of the school participated in the lecture. Li Guisheng, vice dean (presiding over the work) of our school, presided over the meeting.

Taking the school of materials of SJTU as an example, Zhu Shenmin gave lectures from five aspects: the general situation of the school, the objectives of undergraduate talent training, the training characteristics, the quality assurance system, the problems and the improvement direction. She pointed out that in the process of discipline development and construction, the college should timely adjust the curriculum according to the feedback of social needs, find the target orientation of professional personnel training, and focus on cultivating high-level composite talents. She introduced to the participants in detail the three characteristics of talent training of Materials College of Jiaotong University, namely, through opening up the three channels of "integration of science and education", "training of talents with international vision" and "creating a 'vegetable garden' culture", to realize the full, full process and all-round training of students from enrollment to graduation. Finally, Zhu Shenmin shared the valuable experience of building a first-class professional quality assurance system from the aspects of management institutions, continuous improvement mechanisms and measures, and discussed and analyzed the problems and improvement directions in the current teaching work of colleges and universities.

Professor Zhu Shenmin's lecture is rich in content, unique in opinion and simple in meaning. The participating teachers were deeply inspired and carried out exchanges and discussions on issues related to professional construction, gained first-class professional application skills, expanded professional construction ideas, and laid a solid foundation for the first-class professional construction of our college.
