On the afternoon of October 16, the opening ceremony of the “Huahong Class”, the award ceremony of the Huahong Scholarship and the USST-specific campus recruitment presentation of Huahong Group for the Class of 2027 were held in the multi-function hall on the first floor of the Student Development Center of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (USST). Qin Jian, Party Secretary and Chairman of Huahong Group; Huang Xinyu, Deputy Party Secretary of Huahong Group; Chen Jianbo, former Vice President of Huahong Group; relevant executives of Huahong Group; Zhao Zhen, President and Deputy Party Secretary of USST; Liu Deqiang, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of USST; and heads of relevant university departments attended the event. Student representatives of Huahong Scholarship recipients, trainees of the Huahong Class, as well as faculty and student representatives from various schools also participated.

On behalf of the university, Zhao Zhen extended a warm welcome to the leaders and guests from Huahong Group and congratulated students admitted to the “Huahong Class” and recipients of the inaugural Huahong Scholarship. He noted that this year marks the 120th anniversary of the university and the 30th anniversary of Huahong Group, and the two sides share strong alignment in talent cultivation and industrial development. The university‑enterprise partnership has kept deepening since the strategic cooperation agreement was signed last May. At present, more than 330 USST alumni work at Huahong Group, including 9 managerial cadres at minister level and above. Committed to serving science and cultivating talents for industry, the university actively promotes alternating work‑study programs and joint university‑enterprise training, and has launched over 50 distinctive specialty classes together with leading industrial enterprises. He encouraged students to foster a strong sense of patriotism, cherish practical training opportunities, sharpen their engineering literacy, and translate their academic expertise into capabilities to tackle real‑world industrial challenges.

In his address, Qin Jian shared insights on the development of the integrated circuit industry, collaborative talent cultivation between universities and enterprises, and the growth of young professionals. He congratulated the university on its 120th anniversary and expressed gratitude for the continuous supply of outstanding talents from USST to Huahong Group. He pointed out that the growth of the integrated circuit industry relies heavily on high‑quality professional talents. Taking the development of the “Huahong Class” as an opportunity, he hoped to further deepen university‑enterprise cooperation and closely align talent training with industrial demands. He encouraged young students to uphold firm ideals, hone their professional skills, and devote themselves to the development of China’s integrated circuit industry.

At the signing ceremony for the training program of the “Huahong Class”, Huang Xinyu and Liu Deqiang signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties. The signing further strengthened the collaborative talent cultivation partnership between the university and the enterprise. The inaugural “Huahong Class” enrolls 28 students. Both sides will keep aligning industrial demands with talent training to substantially improve students’ engineering practical capabilities.

Subsequently, the Huahong Scholarship Award Ceremony commenced. Qu Deqiang, Director of the Alumni Liaison Office and Secretary‑General of the University Education Development Foundation, read out the list of awardees. Leaders from the university and Huahong Group presented certificates to doctoral, master’s and undergraduate recipients in groups and took group photos. Wang Yi, a 2024 postgraduate student from the School of Materials and Chemistry, spoke on behalf of scholarship winners. Drawing on her academic and research experience, she thanked Huahong Group for supporting the university’s talent development. She pledged to translate her professional knowledge into tangible contributions and do her part for the advancement of China’s semiconductor industry.

Following the award ceremony, the Human Resources Department of Huahong Group delivered the special campus recruitment presentation for the Class of 2027 at USST. Interactive sessions including on‑site Q&A and resume collection were arranged for students. The event served as a valuable platform for students to learn about corporate development and explore career opportunities. The venue was fully packed with an enthusiastic atmosphere, and students actively took part in all sessions.

This event established a closed‑loop talent cultivation model featuring “joint training — merit‑based incentives — on‑campus recruitment”, which consolidates the foundation of in‑depth cooperation between USST and Huahong Group. On the occasion of the university’s 120th anniversary and Huahong Group’s 30th anniversary, the two sides will continue to deepen the integration of industry and education and strengthen university‑enterprise collaboration. By fostering talents jointly to drive industrial upgrading, they aim to cultivate more high‑caliber professionals capable of shouldering important responsibilities for the national integrated circuit sector, support high‑level self‑reliance and self‑improvement in science and technology, and jointly pursue the vision of building a manufacturing powerhouse.
