To facilitate the employment of the 2027 cohort of university graduates, precisely align talent demands of the advanced manufacturing and design industries, and build an employment platform for in-depth university-enterprise integration and efficient matching between supply and demand, the Golden Autumn · Set Sail Special Job Fair for Shanghai University Graduates in Advanced Manufacturing Industries — the Autumn Job Fair for the 2027 Graduates of University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (Special Session for Optoelectronic Instruments, Materials & Chemistry, Machinery & Electrical Engineering, Printing and Design Industries) — was held on October 16 at the sports field on the Jungong Road Campus (No. 516 Jungong Road). Guided by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, this job fair was hosted by the Shanghai Student Affairs Center and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, and co-organized by the School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering, School of Materials and Chemistry, School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Publishing. The 3rd Yangtze River Delta University Design Talent Special Job Fair was held concurrently.
A total of 137 employers participated in the event, grouped into six exhibition zones by industry. Participants included leading enterprises, listed companies, specialized and sophisticated little giant enterprises and research institutes, offering more than 1,300 job vacancies covering over 300 job tracks, which precisely matched the majors of undergraduate, master’s and doctoral graduates from relevant schools. In terms of job composition, R&D positions accounted for the largest share. There was strong demand for roles in machinery, materials and chemistry, electrical engineering, optics, printing and design, which closely corresponded to the four featured sectors of this advanced manufacturing session: optoelectronic instruments, materials and chemistry, machinery & electrical engineering, and printing and design.
The venue was bustling yet well-ordered. Students moved between booths with their resumes, engaging in face-to-face discussions with recruiters and submitting applications actively. To boost job-hunting outcomes, the university extended employment services to the recruitment site. Special zones were set up for policy consultation, resume review and career assessment. Free advisory services for postgraduate entrance examinations, overseas study and military recruitment were also available. Counselors and career advisors were on-site throughout the fair, integrating value guidance and career coaching into the whole job-seeking process to advance the comprehensive reform of fostering virtue through education at the front line of employment education.
Liu Deqiang, Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee and Vice President, visited each exhibition zone for on-site research. He held face-to-face talks with employer representatives to learn about job requirements, competency expectations and internship arrangements, and carefully collected their feedback on the university’s talent cultivation. He expressed gratitude to all employers for their long-term support for the university’s graduate employment work. At the booths, he chatted with students submitting resumes, encouraging them to combine their expertise with national strategies and the industrial development needs of Shanghai, take the initiative to build a career on the front lines of advanced manufacturing, and realize personal value while contributing to the pursuit of a manufacturing powerhouse.
