To deepen academic exchanges in the fields of materials and chemistry, further focus on cutting-edge innovation and national strategic needs, and support the growth of young scholars as well as interdisciplinary collaborative research, the School of Materials and Chemistry held the 2026 Hujiang Gezhi Forum — Young Scholars Symposium on April 2. Experts and scholars from East China University of Science and Technology, Donghua University, Fudan University, Tongji University, and the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology participated in the event, engaging in discussions on scientific research innovation and disciplinary development. Cao Ying, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Materials and Chemistry, attended the event and delivered a welcome address.

The forum specially invited four distinguished experts from peer institutions — Jiang Hao, Luo Wei, Tang Yun, and Wang Qigang — all of whom are recipients of national talent awards, to serve as session chairs and discussion commentators. During the symposium, four young scholars from the school presented academic reports, sharing their latest research progress and application developments in cutting-edge areas such as polymer semiconductor materials, molecular sieve catalytic materials, electrochemical materials and interfaces, and lithium battery separator materials. The reports featured distinct themes and solid content, fully demonstrating the explorations and breakthroughs of young scholars in fields such as new materials, catalysis, and electrochemical energy storage.

In the free discussion session, attending experts and young scholars engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics including refining research directions, optimizing technical pathways, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and promoting technology transfer. The atmosphere was vibrant and productive. The experts provided targeted suggestions on research planning, project application, and team building, offering strong guidance for young scholars to enhance their research capabilities and expand opportunities for collaboration.
The successful holding of this Hujiang Gezhi Forum has further established a high-level, interdisciplinary platform for academic exchange, effectively promoting inter-institutional resource sharing and collaborative innovation. The School of Materials and Chemistry will continue to deepen the systematic design and enrich the content of the Hujiang Gezhi Forum as an academic and cultural brand, continuously improve the training system for young talents, strengthen organized research initiatives, and promote the distinctive development of its disciplines as well as high-quality innovation.
