To thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and its successive plenary sessions, as well as the guiding principles of the National Education Conference, during the 2026 winter vacation, the Party Committee of the School of Materials and Chemistry closely focused on the key tasks of Party building in colleges and universities, and organized the themed practical activity of Materials & Chemistry Party Members' Winter Vacation Practice Tour. This initiative extended the classroom of Party member education to the broader social classroom, guiding faculty and student Party members to cultivate profound patriotism through on-site experiences and embrace the 120th anniversary of the university with high spirits.
Under the theme of Walking the Homeland, Carrying Forward the Red Legacy, and Celebrating the 120th Anniversary of USST, the activity aimed to enhance the pertinence and effectiveness of Party member education. Two well-designed modules—Tracing Roots, Passing on the Torch and 120 Years of USST, Blessings from Hometowns—were launched to deeply integrate Party building with education and talent cultivation.
In the Tracing Roots, Passing on the Torch practical study at revolutionary education bases, faculty, student Party members and activists for Party membership responded actively. They conducted on-site studies at revolutionary sites, memorial halls, martyrs' cemeteries and other red venues in and around their hometowns. From the Site of the First National Congress of the CPC and the Sihang Warehouse Battle Memorial in Shanghai, to the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall and the Kangri Mountain Martyrs' Cemetery in Jiangsu, from Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, Zhejiang to the February 7th Memorial Hall in Zhengzhou, Henan, from the Shouguang Martyrs' Cemetery in Shandong to the Yunnan Military Academy, Party members comprehended the original aspiration and mission at historical sites and drew strength for progress while following the red footprint. Over 100 study reports were collected, featuring detailed content and profound reflections, which fully demonstrated the remarkable effect of practical education. It effectively transformed Party member education from passive listening to active learning and from classroom lectures to on-site comprehension.
In the 120 Years of USST, Blessings from Hometowns video collection campaign, all Party branches fully played their role as fighting fortresses and extensively mobilized faculty, student Party members and activists to take the lead in participation. Standing at hometown landmarks, Party members sent sincere blessings to the university's 120th anniversary through the lens. The Party Committee of the school received more than 70 blessing videos from various Party branches, covering over 10 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Shandong, Henan and Xinjiang. The videos were clear in picture quality and sincere in emotion, fully presenting the high-spirited mental outlook and profound love and loyalty to the university among Materials & Chemistry Party members.
