On the morning of November 26, 2025, the School of Materials and Chemistry held a thematic working conference on the construction of the Five-Good Caring for the Next Generation Working Committee . The meeting closely followed the requirements of the Shanghai University of Science and Technology Action Plan for the Construction of Grassroots 'Five-Good' Caring for the Next Generation Working Committees. Through indicator breakdown, pathway refinement, and expert guidance, the conference aimed to comprehensively consolidate the foundation of the School's Caring Committee work, injecting strong momentum into the growth and development of young teachers and students.
The meeting was attended by Zhu Li, Executive Deputy Director of the School's Caring Committee and Special Invited Party Building Organizer, and Ji Xiangwei from the University's Organization Department Retired Cadres Office. Cao Ying, Party Secretary of the School and Director of the Caring Committee, along with relevant responsible persons and staff, participated in the conference.
During the meeting, Ji Xiangwei provided guidance based on the university's cycle arrangement and core acceptance standards for the Five-Good Caring Committee construction. He focused on key indicators such as Effective Leadership Team Building and Effective Utilization of the 'Five Olds' Role (referring to old cadres, old experts, old teachers, old soldiers, and old models). He emphasized that the School should further promote the deep integration and organic connection between the Caring Committee work and the Party-administration annual operational work, forming a collaborative advancement work pattern. He also pointed out the need to leverage the characteristics of materials and chemistry disciplines, innovate platforms for the Five Olds to play their roles, and precisely align the experience and professional advantages of the Five Olds with the growth needs of students, thereby enhancing the targeted effectiveness of the Caring Committee work.
Zhu Li focused on the School's self-assessment application form for the Five-Good Caring Committee construction, providing specialized guidance on detailed issues such as the standardization of material organization and the precision of activity classification. She noted that for Brand Activities Deployed by Higher Authorities and Innovative Activities Characteristic of the School, such as categorizing and accurately presenting activities like Traditional Culture on Campus (required by higher authorities) alongside School-characteristic activities like Chemistry Science Outreach in Communities and Distinguished Discipline Experts Lectures, the School should fully demonstrate the differentiated advantages of its Caring Committee work. Regarding the construction of a Digital Caring Committee under the Active Exploration and Innovation indicator, both advisors jointly suggested establishing an online column titled Five Olds Lecture Hall on the School's WeChat official account. This platform could regularly publish high-quality content such as the inspiring journeys of outstanding alumni, educational stories of retired teachers, and the evolution of disciplinary development, thereby building an online-offline integrated education front for the Caring Committee and expanding its educational reach and influence.
The School will take this thematic conference as a crucial opportunity to comprehensively review the optimization suggestions put forward, establish problem rectification lists and work advancement accounts, implement improvements item by item, and continuously refine the material system for the Five-Good Caring Committee construction. Moving forward, the School will further consolidate the strength of the Five Olds, deepen brand building, and innovate work models.
