On the afternoon of October 21, the Academic Atmosphere Construction Conference for the Class of 2024 undergraduates for the 2025-2026 academic year was held in the Optoelectronic Report Hall. Attendees included Wang Yang, Deputy Director of the Alumni Office; Zhu Xindi, Chief Engineer of Shanghai Silin Special Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd.; Dong Xiaoliang, Deputy Party Secretary of the School; Miao Yuqing, Vice Dean of the School; Chen Xiaohong, specially appointed doctoral supervisor and corporate liaison of the School; class advisors of the Class of 2024; outstanding senior student representatives; and all Class of 2024 undergraduates. The conference was hosted by Qin Yiyang, a counselor of the School.

In his address, Dong Xiaoliang encouraged students to set lofty ambitions, cultivate humanistic qualities, and seek scientific truth, closely integrating personal ideals into the broader context of national development. He emphasized the importance of honing professional skills while expanding international perspectives, and of putting the school's fine academic spirit of Diligence, Rigor, Truth-Seeking, and Innovation into practice.
During the Silin Scholarship awards segment, Miao Yuqing announced the list of recipients for the 2024-2025 academic year. Ten students—Gong Yi, He Yuchuan, Huang Jie, Liu Zizhuo, Tang Shengzhi, Qin Wenchu, Xiao Huang, Zhang Yilin, Zhang Yuanxin, and Zhang Yunhao—were honored with the scholarship. Zhu Xindi and Wang Yang jointly presented the awards to the recipients.
The Silin Scholarship was established with a donation of 1 million RMB from Shanghai Silin Special Equipment Engineering Co., Ltd. It supports undergraduate students from their first to fourth years, as well as graduate students, aiming to foster talent development and scientific innovation in the fields of materials and chemistry, particularly in the cable direction.

Huang Jie, representing the award recipients, expressed sincere gratitude to Shanghai Silin and the School, sharing insights from his learning experiences. He called on all students to delve into professional knowledge with passion, broaden cognitive boundaries through interdisciplinary perspectives, and hone solid skills through practical actions. He encouraged everyone to steadfastly pursue their exploration of materials science and strive to create valuable academic achievements and social contributions.
During the academic planning sharing session, Yuan Yifei from the graduating class of 2025, and Fan Junyi and Li Siquan from the Class of 2023, took the stage successively. The three students shared valuable experiences from their personal journeys, covering aspects such as course learning methods, participation in research competitions, balancing student duties, and strategies for selecting advisors. Their sharing included both macro planning concepts and specific implementation methods, encompassing academic pathways as well as mindset adjustment techniques, providing comprehensive references for the Class of 2024 students at this critical sophomore stage.

At the conclusion of the conference, Qin Yiyang outlined the upcoming student affairs arrangements and highlighted key points for attention. She expressed her hope that students would gradually cultivate the ability to balance life, the decisiveness to anchor their direction, and the judgment to solve problems while exploring university life. Meanwhile, she emphasized daily management regulations and safety awareness, reminding everyone to strictly adhere to university rules and strengthen defenses for personal, property, and academic safety.
This Academic Atmosphere Construction Conference served not only as a summary of the school's past efforts in fostering academic ethos and a mobilization for a new phase, but also as an ideological guide and a call to action. It further clarified the development goals and pathways for the Class of 2024 undergraduates. Attendees unanimously expressed that they would take this conference as an opportunity to anchor their academic direction, dedicate themselves to scholarly pursuits, and strive to write a youth chapter worthy of the times.
